Best Online Nanny Services

The best online nanny services are those that offer the largest selection of nanny and babysitter candidates in your local market – at a fair price.  Our list of the best online nanny services includes:

  • Most Nannies: Sittercity.com (Chicago, IL; founded 2001) Sittercity bills itself as the “largest and most trusted” online nanny service, with “more than one million caregiver profiles nationwide.”  A free search of nannies in my area yielded a greater selection of qualified local nannies than any other online nanny service.  In addition to nanny and babysitter care, Sittercity also offers pet care, senior care, housekeeping and tutoring.  Basic fee is a $39.99 sign up charge plus $9.99 per month.
  • Best Nanny Recruiter: Care.com (Waltham, MA; founded 2007)  Care.com is the most active nanny recruiter based on the number of Care.com jobs revealed by a Google search for nanny jobs in various cities.  In addition to childcare, Care.com offers pet care, senior care, housekeeping, tutoring and has a separate category for special needs care.  Basic fee is $30 for a one month subscription including free background check.
  • Most Experienced: Nannies4Hire.com (Norfolk, NE; founded 1987)  Nannies4Hire.com has the most nanny placement experience and is the most nanny-focused of all the online nanny services (with no offerings for pet care or housekeeping, for example.)  The company’s founder is affiliated with a traditional nanny placement agency and is a former nanny.  Nannies4Hire’s services have been featured on the Dr. Phil Show, Jon & Kate Plus 8 and Supernanny.  Basic fee is $129.99 for a one month subscription.
  • Best Guarantee: GoNannies.com (Flower Mound, TX; founded 2003)  GoNannies offers a wide selection of nanny candidates and is a very active advertiser and nanny recruiter.  GoNannies also offers a “Find Them & Keep Them” guarantee, which extends a family’s membership if the family does not find a nanny who stays in the job.  Basic fee is $49 for a 45 day membership, including a free preliminary background check.

An honorable mention should also go to NannyPro.com, a new online nanny service based in Hamburg, New York that has been aggressively recruiting nannies and families.  In addition, fee-based online nanny services are offered by nanny tax and payroll specialists HomeWork Solutions Inc. (which is affiliated with 4nannies.com) and GTM Associates (which owns nannyjobs.com.)

Hi, this is Stacy. I’m a member of Care.com’s Mom Force—a team of work-at-home moms that helps with safety and customer service. I may be biased but as a mom I think Care.com is an amazing resource for finding care providers. The site offers free background checks, uses the Mom Force to review all care providers and job posts before we post them online, and gives you access to recorded references and reviews to help you decide who to hire. They also have exclusive members-only features like Care-on-Call (for last-minute care), Care Exchange (to meet families who want to exchange babysitting and pet sitting services). Plus an amazing selection so you’ll be able to find a match that’s right for you and your family. Good Luck in your search.

  2. Hi, I don’t see eNannySource.com on this list of online nanny services. We’ve been established since 2001 and have worked with over 400,000 nannies and families. Our roots in the nanny agency business go back to 1994 so eNannySource.com is entirely nanny focused and offers a great set of nanny hiring tools our exclusive Nanny Success Kit that features the interview and hiring tools based on the interview and placement tools from the award winning nanny agency that was owned prior to founding eNannySource. In addition, eNannySource features a top notch nanny background check.

I too may be biased but here at NannyMall, llc we work extremely hard at finding and placing Nannies within a household….and not to mention at very, very reasonable costs. We are a local agency to St. Louis and St. Charles Counties that offer online and face to face services. http://www.nannymall.com
So that we know who we are sending to the client’s home (or hotel), we guarantee ALL of our Nannies are personally interviewed and background checks completed.
Thanks for the post! It does give great information and should a client be looking for something different than what we offer, we can refer them to your list.

I work for a nationwide nanny company, College Nannies & Tutors and it’s a wonderful service! You should look into it, we personally interview families and then search for a nanny that will compliment their family, so it is a very personalized search! We do full-time, part-time, after school and on call so we have something to fit everyones needs! I’ve been a nanny with them for over 2 years and I’ve had nothing but wonderful experiences.
